Bachelor of Arts Degree Completion Program

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Q. What does "Degree Completion" mean?
    A. "Degree Completion" refers to students who have taken most of their
undergraduate course work in another institution but have not yet earned a
Bachelor’s Degree. CDU will provide the remaining course work needed to
         earn a Bachelor’s Degree.

  • Q. What other work will I have to do at CDU?
    A. Your work at CDU will be the equivalent of the course work you would do for a
Major/Minor concentration. Students completing their Bachelor’s Degree from
CDU will be awarded a Bachelor of Arts Degree (BA) in Theology.

  • Q. Do all of my credits have to come from the same institution?
    A. No, previously earned credits may be from more than one undergraduate
academic institution. If you have successfully completed the course work and
earned undergraduate credits, they can be transferred.

  • Q. Where do I have the transcripts sent?
    A. The transcripts should be sent directly to the Undergraduate Registrar at CDU.
These must be official transcripts sent directly from the academic institution.

  • Q. If I have already taken undergraduate courses from CDU, can they be applied
         to this degree?
    A. Yes, if you have already earned undergraduate credits from CDU they can be
applied retroactively to your BA degree.

  • Q. If I do not have all of the required courses can I still begin the program?
    A. You can begin taking other undergraduate courses but you cannot enroll in
the BA program. However, once you have met the requirements for the
program, you can enroll in the program and your previously earned credits will
be applied retroactively to your BA degree.

  • Q. If I have taken undergraduate courses for non-credit, can I earn credits for
them and then apply them to this degree?
    A. CDU offers the possibility of earning credits for a course previously taken for
non-credit. Each course has different requirements. Generally the student is
required to submit a paper and take a proctored final exam in the respective
         course.

  • Q. Can I transfer any credits in theology from another institution as part of the
         36 credits?
    A. CDU will accept a maximum of six (6) undergraduate credits in transfer,
providing they meet the requirements of the program (Catholic theology from
a Catholic institution). Decisions are made by the Undergraduate Dean
regarding the transfer of credit. If they are accepted, these six credits may
apply to the 36 credits required for the major in Theology. An official transcript
is required. CDU does not grant undergraduate credit for work experience.
