CDU Board Expands in Number and Stature
At the first meeting of the Board of Trustees in 2010, six new members were appointed as trustees of the University. These new members increase the number of CDU trustees to eighteen and add a diversified range of expertise to the university’s board.
Dr. Joseph Braddock is a retired nuclear physicist who was a founder of the BDM Corporation in 1959. He serves on several advisory committees for the U.S. military and Defense Department and is a board member of the National Shrine of the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception and the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA.
Dr. Michael Hillyard is currently a consultant in distance education who lives near Jacksonville, Florida, and served as president of the University of St. Augustine. He was president of Rockwell University, and Provost and Executive Vice President of the American Public University System (APUS) and Academic Dean of American Military University, which is part of the APUS system.
Deacon John Jarvis, a permanent deacon in the Eparchy of St. Maron of Brooklyn, is a graduate of CDU’s Catechetical Diploma program and earned his Master’s in Theological Studies from Ave Maria University’s Institute for Pastoral Theology. He works as a legislative consultant in Washington, DC.
Mr. James Lucier is Managing Director and co-Founder of Capital Alpha Partners, LLC. His company is a leading strategic research firm for institutional investors specializing in Washington research and political intelligence. He is a frequent guest on financial news networks including Bloomberg Television, CNBC, and Fox Business.
Dr. Margaret Melady is former president of The American University of Rome, president of the Mediterranean Education Institute, and president of Melady Associates, a consulting firm that specializes in public affairs and education. She is the wife of Dr. Thomas Melady, former Ambassador to the Holy See. Dr. Melady is also an international lecturer and author.
Mrs. Barbara Murphy has been a volunteer at CDU since 1983 and earned an M.A. degree in Religious Studies from the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas and has earned 30 additional graduate credits in spiritual theology. She has served two terms on the Board of Directors of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, Federal Association, and is a Dame of Obedience in the Order. She is the wife of retired Federal District Court Judge, Tim Murphy.
