Academic Mass marks beginning of January 2012 term
The Celebration of the Mass of the Holy Spirit has been a tradition at universities going back to the Middle Ages when universities had an integrated view of what a university is -- a place where one rigorously pursues truth because the truth is Jesus Christ. It is important to remember that study at a university is not a sideline but is an extension of one’s baptismal call to follow Christ. In Pope John Paul II’s words: “A Catholic University's privileged task is "to unite existentially by intellectual effort two orders of reality that too frequently tend to be placed in opposition as though they were antithetical: the search for truth, and the certainty of already knowing the fount of truth"(Ex corde ecclesiae)

The Mass of the Holy Spirit will take place on Wednesday January 11, 2012 to mark the beginning of the January 2011 term. All are invited to join us in spirit for this celebration by praying the Prayer to the Holy Spirit, written by Saint Augustine of Hippo.

January 2012 term open for registration
CDU has opened registration for the January 2012 term, which runs Jan. 9 through April 23, 2012. Courses are offered at several academic levels and are open to all adults interested in learning more about Catholic theology.

The January term offers graduate courses on Sacred Scripture, Canon Law, Catholicism and Modern Culture, and Moral Theology. At the undergraduate level, January courses include Sacred Scripture, Church History, and Four Constitutions of Vatican II. Interested adults can also take Latin and Biblical Greek online at the graduate and undergraduate level of study.

New for the January 2012 term is CDU's Associate in Catholic Studies. This program provides a high quality, entry-level associate degree in liberal arts with an emphasis on the Catholic intellectual tradition. It is designed for the professional development of catechists, parents, and aspiring Catholic school teachers, professional career-seekers in the Catholic Church, and anyone else who may later seek a higher degree in liberal arts. Upon completion of this degree, students have the option to earn a bachelor's degree in theology at CDU.
