The National Catholic Register has selected Catholic Distance University as one of the 31 colleges and universities nationwide included in its Catholic Identity Guide '11. The guide is based on CDU's responses to 10 questions which offers an objective look into the university's Catholic identity. According to the Register the questionnaire is designed such that a 'yes' answer reflects "essential elements of the renewal of Catholic identity called for by Pope John Paul II's 1990 apostolic constitution on higher education, Ex Corde Ecclesiae (Out of the Heart of the Church), its 2000 'Application to the United States,' canon law and other relevant Church documents."
