Advanced Catechist Certificate Program Objectives

Students who complete this program should be able to:

• Explain and effectively communicate the essential and fundamental content of Catholic Doctrine: profession of Faith, liturgy and sacrament, moral teachings, and the nature of prayer for communion with God and with others.

• Use Sacred Scripture for catechesis with a basic understanding of the meaning of revelation, the unity of the two testaments, and the content of the Gospel message.
  
  
• Apply the foundations of Catholic morality and Catholic Social Teaching to the catechesis of Christian living.
  
  
• Identify appropriate catechetical principles and methods for faithful catechesis.
  
  
• Provide a catechesis that reflects the proper relationship of prayer, and doctrinal truths with daily living.
