Pope Benedict XVI strongly encourages Christians to read and reflect on the Bible, pointing out the significance of the Scriptures as the basis for ecumenical discussion, and the importance of being knowledgeable about the strong connections between the Old and New Testaments. This Basic Certificate in Sacred Scripture will indicate that one has obtained an overview of the structure and content of the Bible as well as the Catholic approach to the use of Sacred Scripture.
