William Saunders , JD

Williams L. Saunders, Jr., a knight of Malta, is the Senior Vice President and Senior Counsel at Americans United for Life, America’s oldest national pro-life organization. 
Mr. Saunders attended the University of North Carolina for his undergraduate degree, obtained his law degree from the Harvard Law School, taught law at the Catholic University of America, and has authored numerous legal briefs in state, federal and international courts.

Mr. Saunders has spoken and written frequently on the topics of stem cell research and cloning, international law, human rights, and the family, and has submitted testimony to the President’s Council on Bioethics, UNESCO’s Committee on Bioethics, Congressional staff, and state legislatures. He has published numerous articles on bioethics, the family, and Christian social responsibility, and has appeared on BBC World News, CNN, Fox News, Vatican Radio, Public Radio International, and National Public Radio.  He writes a regular “Washington Insider” column for the National Catholic Bioethics Quarterly.

Mr. Saunders serves on the boards of the Fellowship of Catholic Scholars, the International Association of Catholic Bioethicists, the International Right to Life Federation, and the Center for Bioethics and Human Dignity. Mr. Saunders is Vice Chair for Religious Liberty for the Federal Society, co-founder of the National Catholic Prayer Breakfast, and serves on the management committee of the World Congress of Families.
