Dr. William E. May
Dr. William May is Professor of Moral Theology at the John Paul II Institute for Studies on Marriage and Family at the Catholic University of America. He has authored more than a dozen books, and published at least 200 essays in scholarly journals. Among his books are: Marriage: The Rock on Which the Family Is Built (San Francisco: Ignatius, 1995); and, with Ronald Lawler OFM Cap and Joseph Boyle, Catholic Sexual Ethics (rev. and enlarged ed. Huntington, IN: Our Sunday Visitor, 1998); and Catholic Bioethics and the Gift of Human Life (Huntington, IN: Our Sunday Visitor Press 2000); Standing with Peter: Reflections of a Lay Theologian on God's Loving Providence (Bethune, N.C.: Requiem Press, 2006).
In 1986, Dr. May was appointed by Pope John Paul II to serve on the International Theological Commission where he became friends with His Eminence Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger, now Pope Benedict XVI. Dr. May is a Visiting Professor at the Institute for the Psychological Sciences and at Notre Dame Graduate School of Christendom College. This father of seven children and grandfather of fourteen has been the recipient of many honors including the Cardinal Wright Award from the Fellowship of Catholic Scholars and Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice Medal from James Cardinal Hickey.
